Morning vs Evening:
How to Build the Perfect Routine
Your morning and evening skincare routines should not be identical — and most people do not realise this. Your skin has different needs at 7am than it does at 10pm, and understanding the difference is what separates a good routine from a great one.
Why timing matters
In the morning, your skin needs protection. It is heading out into the world — UV rays, pollution, blue light, environmental stressors are all waiting. Your morning routine should be about building a shield.
In the evening, your skin shifts into repair mode. Cell turnover accelerates while you sleep, and your skin barrier is more receptive to active ingredients. Your evening routine should be about restoration and renewal.
Never use retinol or AHAs in the morning — they increase sun sensitivity. Save your active treatments for the evening when your skin is in repair mode, and always follow up with SPF the next morning.
The one rule everyone gets wrong
Skipping SPF because you are working from home. UV rays come through windows. Blue light from your screen causes oxidative stress. The notion that SPF is only for sunny days or outdoor activities is one of the most damaging myths in skincare. Wear it every day, year round — your future skin will be genuinely grateful.
